About Susan
Susan Van Volkenburgh is an author, musical evangelist, and homeschool educator in Keller, Texas. She is very active in her homeschooling community, offering mentoring for parents and a variety of classes for children and teens. After graduating from Radford University in Southwestern Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Susan married Ronald Van Volkenburgh on January 17, 1987. Before she began homeschooling her three children in 1995, Susan practiced as a Registered Nurse in Oncology where she specialized in the administration of chemotherapy, data management of research protocols, and provided staff and patient education.
Susan is the Grand Prize Winner in the 2015 New Look Writing Contest. After the death of her father on September 11, 2001, she began speaking of her experience before audiences such as churches, university alumni, and Stephen Ministries, among others. Authoring Christian fiction and non-fiction books, she continues to strive to do the will of the Father by utilizing her writing skills for the cause of Christ. Her first book, SilentResolve and the God Who Let Me Down (A 9/11 story), recounts Susan’s loss and subsequent spiritual journey.
As a musical evangelist, Susan travels with the gospel group, The Van Martins, where she encounters a wide range of venues, speaking boldly the message of hope to a troubled world. Born too late to experience antiquity first hand, Susan spends much of her time studying and teaching ancient history, revealing how the past speaks to the gospel of Christ.
